IRA Erwin Zolt Curriculum Excellence Award

This award, established in memory of Erwin Zolt, who inspired in others a “zest for knowledge”, may be given annually to support exceptional design and execution of a curriculum unit based on In2Books or an e-Pals project and the Common Core State Standards, inspiring students to transform knowledge into creative action. This award is for US $2,500 (sponsored by Nina Zolt and Miles Gilburne.)

David Krauter

David Krauter is a literacy coach and reading interventionist at ASU Preparatory Academy in Phoenix, AZ. He has been working in elementary school classrooms for fourteen years. For twelve of those years, he served as a first, second, and third grade teacher. He is currently working on a PhD in language and literacy. His research interests include classroom discourse, collaboration, teacher and student identity, and distributed cognition.

Jessica Boland

Jessica Boland always knew she would be a teacher. She continues to grow as an educator learning daily through the eyes of her students. Her classroom is very student centered, allowing for all members to be teachers and learning within the classroom community. She has been educator for 13 years, both as a teacher and a specialist in Curriculum and Assessment. She is National Board Certified in Early Childhood. Currently she teaches third grade at ASU Preparatory in Phoenix, Arizona.
