Speaking to Administrators and Reading Specialists
Training Paraprofessionals to Effectively Work With all Students

full text - HTML   full text - PDF

Paraprofessionals can serve a vital role in supporting the literacy achievement of all students. However, many times their services are underutilized.

As instructional leaders in a school, the principal and reading specialist can facilitate training for paraprofessionals that supports classroom instruction, is cost effective, and is relatively simple to implement. This article presents what that training might look like, beginning with a needs assessment, continuing with training, and concluding with follow-up consultations.
