The Relations Between Document Familiarity, Frequency, and Prevalence and Document Literacy Performance Among Adult Readers

这研究评估以文件使用的普遍性和熟悉程度作为成人文件识读能力成绩的预测因子的效用。研究者根据一个成人社区抽样调查的回应,与从政府及私营机构搜集得来的文件,建构出三个指数: 文件使用的普遍性、熟悉度、使用率。这三个指数均能明显预测美国教育部在《1992 年全国成人识字能力调查》和《2003年全国成人识字率评估》中所测量 的文件识读能力成绩。这三个指数, 作为个别的预测因子,分别解释了文件识读能力成绩变异量的70% (熟悉度),51% (使用率) 和30% (普遍性) 。文件熟悉度可能有助于在文件中的信息搜寻和检索,因而促进文件识读能力。
