Stave off decline in reading skills over summer vacation

Summer vacation is a time to relax and have fun with your children. Part of your pleasures should include reading to your children, or if theyre older, having them read to you. The percentage of literacy skills some kids will lose over the summer is shocking. A review of the impact of summer reading clubs, prepared for Library and Archives Canada, found that children can lose up to 60% of their skills during the two-month vacation.
