Teaching Students to Self-Regulate During Online Inquiry
Julie Coiro & Michael Putman
Online inquiry experiences can engage learners in authentic opportunities to build content knowledge, reinforce comprehension strategy use, and develop positive beliefs at the same time. Learn about a framework that makes explicit how skilled readers regulate their thinking as they navigate online texts. Then, explore a guided online inquiry lesson that incorporates instruction in reading strategy use and self-regulation into a middle school science unit about water conservation. Follow along with a companion website that features extended think-alouds.
