Arizona school starts Nook Club
| Mar 30, 2011
An elementary school librarian and principal in Gilbert, Arizona, have discovered a way to motivate students to read, while downloading new books and series instantaneously and cheaply through the use of an e-reader.
The pilot Nook Club at Sonoma Ranch Elementary School is a new type of book club that gives six sixth graders a school-bought Nook electronic reader and allows them to use the device and read on it for two weeks. The club aims to encourage reading by using the new technology. Long term, the goal is to give all sixth graders a chance to use the e-reader and read at least one electronic book by the end of the school year.
