Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Secretary-General Angel GurrĂa is joining U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Education International President Fred van Leeuwen, in addition to the National Education Association (NEA), the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), the Asia Society and public broadcaster WNET, to host an International Summit on the Teaching Profession in New York City, March 16-17. The summit will cover such topics as teacher recruitment and preparation; development, support, and retention of teachers; teacher evaluation and compensation; and teacher engagement in education reform.
