Students at Dater Elementary in Ramsey, New Jersey, are embracing technology to make progress in their education. The use of the collaborative writing website Progressive Story Project allowed students to participate in a group writing project, learning about online resources and interpersonal interaction. Classes wrote parts of an ongoing collaborative story that was sent from school to school as it grew, opening the classroom up into the outside world.
In addition to collaborative writing, Dater students participated in the “Global Video Project,” in which American students recorded video of daily life in the United States and traded for similar videos from students in Kenya, Spain, Poland, and Romania. Dater Elementary continues to look for ways to incorporate online social technologies into its classroom experience.
