World Book Day set

by Annie Enchakattu | Jan 13, 2011

Celebrated in more than 100 countries, World Book Day was first established by UNESCO in 1995 as a global celebration of books and reading. Publishers, booksellers, and other interested parties come together for World Book Day in order to promote the enjoyment of books and reading to everyone. For the United Kingdom and Ireland, World Book Day will take place on March 3, 2011 (it is usually held on April 23 for most other countries).

In the UK and Ireland, a Schools’ Pack will be mailed to all schools beginning in mid-January 2011. The Schools’ Pack will include ideas, activities, display material, and more information about getting involved in World Book Day. Some of this information also will be available online beginning in January 2011, but registration is required to have access to the World Book Day Portal. There is also an events section on the webpage in which people can see the range of activities and events being organized. Visit the World Book Day website for more information.
