Reading is Fundamental (RIF) and First Book have partnered to give the gift of reading to children this holiday season. Together, the organizations are providing 500,000 new books for children in RIF programs nationwide. First Book is helping RIF distribute even more resources by offering high-quality, free and low-cost children’s books to programs serving children in need. The purchase of the half million books through First Book’s Marketplace was made possible by Macy’s, RIF’s largest corporate sponsor. Random House Children's Books also donated books to aid the organizations' combined efforts to further the cause of children's literacy.
“At a time when many families are struggling with everyday expenses, it is critical that RIF provide children access to books in the home,” said Carol H. Rasco, president and CEO of Reading Is Fundamental. “We hope these extra books will encourage children and families to discover the joy of reading as they spend time together celebrating the holidays.” Visit the RIF website and the First Book website to learn more about these organizations.
