On November 19, 2010 the Secretary of the US Department of Education held a public input meeting on the competition for $10 million in formula grants to States to create or maintain a State Literacy Team with expertise in literacy development and education for children from birth through grade 12 and to assist States in developing a comprehensive literacy plan.
