National Book Award winners announced

The winners of the 2010 National Book Award were announced on November 17. Kathryn Erskine received the Award for Young People’s Literature for her book Mockingbird. In this book, 11-year-old Caitlin is trying to get over the death of her brother, but finds it difficult because she has Asperger’s.
Other nominees in this category include Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi, Dark Water by Laura McNeal, Lockdown by Walter Dean Myers, and One Crazy Summer by Rita Williams-Garcia. For more information about these books and other winners and nominees, visit the National Book Foundation website.
