Nominees sought for IRA's Teacher Advisory Panel

by Annie Enchakattu | Nov 15, 2010

Are you a current IRA member as well as a full-time classroom teacher? Do you want the opportunity to present issues of concern to the Board of Directors and respond to issues brought forth by the Board? Here is your chance to get involved.

The Teacher Advisory Panel (TAP) is an advisory body to the IRA Board of Directors. The Panel has the opportunity to present issues of concern to the Board and to respond to issues brought forth by the Board. TAP is comprised of 12 classroom teachers (9 representing various regions of the United States, 1 representing Canada, and 2 representing areas outside the United States and Canada) who are appointed by the Board of Directors. Teachers can be nominated by state/provincial reading associations or national affiliates, or they can nominate themselves.

TAP members meet primarily through conference calls and online collaboration networks, but are required to attend a meeting at the IRA Annual Convention. If you are interested in applying, please complete the online application and submit it to IRA by February 1, 2011.
