Popular PBS children’s show promotes literacy

The popular PBS Kids show Martha Speaks is set to premiere Monday October 11th with a special two-part episode. This animated show, based on the children’s books by Susan Meddaugh, is about a talking dog named Martha and her many adventures. Despite being a fun kid’s show, the program also seeks to improve the oral vocabulary of children between the ages of four and seven. This season, kids will be taught words such as imaginative, splurge, experiment, and more.

In conjunction with the show, there is also an interactive website that includes games, printables and videos to help kids with vocabulary. For more information about the show, click here.
