Saturday program promotes reading

Six times a year, students at three elementary schools in northern Delaware particupate in the Saturday Detective Series, a program that combines reading and hands-on learning through the cooperative efforts of school librarians and the Delaware Museum of Natural History. Librarians find websites and books to complement museum programming, and museum guides bring artifacts--including live animals--related the the day's theme. Programs for the 2010-2011 school year address such themes as "Bizarre Beasts" and "Astronomy in the Night Sky."
