  • An update on the President’s budget (to be released the week of February 14th) and an update on the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (the current NCLB)

  • For state council leaders: Later in the month, (February 27 & 28 at 8:00 PM Eastern) there will be two opportunities to participate in an open-phone discussion on what several state councils are doing as they are working on the common core standards.  More details to follow.

  • Striving Readers Public Input Meeting

    On November 19, 2010 the Secretary of the US Department of Education held a public input meeting on the competition for $10 million in formula grants to States to create or maintain a State Literacy Team with expertise in literacy development and education for children from birth through grade 12 and to assist States in developing a comprehensive literacy plan.
