International Project Partnerships

IRA’s extensive council and affiliate network reaches out to support literacy projects around the globe. These worldwide connections among colleagues enrich the professional lives and literacy activities of all involved.

Councils Seeking Projects

Council members interested in becoming involved in international projects should first review the partnership guidelines.

If you do not find a project from the listing below, submit information about your council and the type of project you’re seeking to sponsor.

Once a sponsor and a project have found each other, it is each group’s responsibility to inform IRA of the partnership.

Individuals interested in supporting literacy development projects in countries with developing economies should consider IRA’s Grants for Literacy Projects in Countries with Developing Economies fund.

Submitting a Project

Project organizers are invited to submit details of their projects for inclusion in our project listing. Being included on the list means IRA council leaders will consider your project when they are looking over the list for a good match.

To be eligible for listing in IRA’s International Projects area, a project must be sponsored, supported, or nominated by an IRA council, affiliate, committee, or similar group; or by another internationally recognized charitable organization active in the field of literacy.

To have your project listed on this website, please complete this online questionnaire.

Partner responsibility

Once a sponsor and a project have found each other, it is each group’s responsibility to inform IRA of the partnership so that website listings can be updated.

Successful partnerships

Project organizers have a great deal to contribute in expertise and the ability to do wonderful work with resources that are frequently very limited. Sponsors can contribute funds or materials, but many project organizers and sponsors meet to share knowledge and the excitement of a successful project.
