Policy on Observers at Board Meetings: 1) Board meetings are open to all IRA members.
2) Observers are asked to notify
Headquarters of their intention to attend at least 30 days prior to the meeting so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
3) Observers will be given a summary of the agenda items for the meeting upon arrival.
4) Observers will be asked to leave the room whenever an Executive Session is called.

No other volunteer position carries greater responsibility
than the Board of Directors.
Read about the role and responsibilities of IRA Board members. IRA members
may suggest vice president and director candidates for
election. The Nominating Committee may consider only
individual members of the Association who have been
recommended and who have submitted vita information
prior to the committee's meeting. Members may
nominate themselves.
Nominations for the 2013 election will be accepted starting November 1, 2011.

The IRA Board is committed to
1. Managing the Association in a manner consistent
with the mission and accepted standards for a non-
profit organization;
2. Providing valued services to individual members,
councils, and affiliates, leading to high levels of
member satisfaction;
3. Maintaining and following a strategic plan;
4. Following established procedures to obtain the input
of members, councils and affiliates on key issues;
5. Ensuring the financial viability of the organization;
6. Requiring indicators of progress and accountability
for sponsored initiatives;
7. Being forward-looking with respect to digital tools
for communication.
