54th Annual Convention West:
Phoenix Registration Rates and Policies

Phoenix, Arizona, USA February 21–25, 2009

Registration for IRA members and non-members is now open. Prepaid registration closes January 19, 2009.

Registration for Phoenix is limited to 12,000 attendees, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Register early to be sure you can attend one of the year's best professional development opportunities.

Full convention registration entitles the registrant admission to all regular convention activities from Sunday, February 22 through Wednesday, February 25. Convention registration is required to visit the exhibit area.

Volunteers needed

The local organizing committee for the 54th IRA Annual Convention West in Phoenix is seeking volunteers to assist with conferee registration for a few hours. If you are interested in giving some time during your convention stay, be sure to register for the convention before filling out the volunteer form.

Advance registration is now open.

Institutes and the Reading Research Conference require separate, paid registration, not included with the full convention. Tickets for social events are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Rebate

IRA will give a $50 rebate to those who have attended both 2009 conventions. You are eligible for this rebate if you have registered for and attended the Phoenix convention and the Minneapolis convention. Advance and on-site registrations qualify as do full and one-day registrations. Student and emeritus rates are not eligible, nor are attendees of only the Reading Research Conference and/or Institutes. The rebate will be credited to your original method of payment by June 30, 2009.

Registration processing

Pre-paid registration closes January 19, 2009. Registrations received after that date will be returned unprocessed, so that conferees can register on site.

Once your registration has been processed, you will receive an e-mail confirmation. This message will confirm your processed meeting order and will include a link to the session ticketing service. Please note that session ticketing is an online-only service. You must provide an e-mail address with your registration in order to take advantage of session ticketing.

Credential mailings, which include name badges, tickets, etc. are mailed out by December. Conferees who take advantage of prepaid registration can pick up their complete convention packet and program at the Phoenix Convention Center. The three pickup locations for prepaid registrants are at the Phoenix Convention Center, West Building, Hall 2, Lower Level, or West Building, Hall 1, Lower Level, or Hyatt Regency Phoenix Hotel, Atrium lobby, 2nd floor.

Policies

Cancellations and refunds

If your plans change and you are unable to attend, notify IRA Customer Service at 1-800-336-7323 (+302-731-1600 outside the U.S./Canada) or by e-mail to customerservice@reading.org. Cancellations are subject to a $50 processing fee for each registration. No refunds will be issued for cancellations made after January 19, 2009. Read more.

Purchase orders

Purchase orders are accepted for prepaid registration if they are signed by the issuer, accompanied by all registration forms, and received at IRA headquarters by January 19. 2009. Read more.

Privacy

IRA rents its meeting registration lists (postal mail addresses only) to third parties in the education sector, who may contact conferees about special meetings, social events, or other offers or invitations.

Scooter and wheelchair rentals are available by contacting Scootaround Inc. before the convention at their toll-free hotline, 888-441-7575. Rental inquiries and placement of orders can be done online at scootaround.com/rentals/i/ira/.
