To advance the research mission of the International Reading Association, the staff of the Ralph C. Staiger Library provides access to reading research and information in related fields of education. The library serves the Association staff, worldwide members, and the public. Visitors are welcome to conduct on-site research. Materials in the library do not circulate, but can be used on the premises. Please call in advance to schedule an appointment. Photocopying is also available. Background The library was established in April 1969, and was formally named The Ralph C. Staiger Library at a dedication ceremony on December 27, 1984. Dr. Staiger was one of the founding members of the International Reading Association, and served as the organizations executive director from 1962 to 1984. Dr. Staiger was deeply interested in global education issues and the improvement of reading instruction worldwide. Using the library
