Councils and AffiliatesIRAs more than 1,250 councils and affiliates bring outstanding professional development to literacy educators at the local, state/provincial, regional, and national levels. These organizations rely on IRA for leadership in professional, organizational, and membership issues. In turn, through council services, grants, and awards, IRA recognizes its councils and affiliates for achievement and excellence in service to the profession, for research, and for advocacy on behalf of teachers and literacy learners. Our leadership development associates serve as liaisons between Canadian and American councils and IRA headquarters, while elsewhere our International Development committees provide information, resources, and support to national affiliates. The International Project Partnerships area of this website serves to connect councils and literacy projects seeking sponsorships and support. To find information about councils and affiliates in particular geographic locations, follow the links at right. Also provided is information about affiliate publications. For information about creating a new council or affiliate, contact the Division of Council and Affiliate Services. |
