Subcommittee on Classroom Teacher Awards & Professional Development Grants

Charges:

  1. Review application for the Eleanor M. Johnson Award based on award criteria. This award recognizes an outstanding elementary teacher of reading/language arts. Recommend a candidate to the Board of Directors providing supportive data by December 15, 2007.

  2. Review applications for the Nila Banton Smith Award based on award criteria. This award recognizes an outstanding teacher of content area literacy instruction, Grades 7 to 12 or equivalent. Recommend a candidate to the Board of Directors providing supportive data by December 15, 2007.

  3. Review applications for the Regie Routman Teacher Recognition Award based on award criteria. This award recognizes a regular elementary classroom teacher of reading and language arts in Grades K–6 (ages 5–12) dedicated to improving teaching and learning through reflective writing about his or her teaching and learning process. Recommend a candidate to the Board of Directors providing supportive data by December 15, 2007.

  4. Review Gertrude Whipple applications and make recommendations to the Board of Directors according to the guidelines.
