National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Committee

Charges:

  1. Review NBPTS certification standards and keep the IRA Board of Directors informed of actions relevant to past, present, and future certification availability and requirements.

  2. Plan a presentation, subject to the regular review process, at the IRA Annual Convention for teachers interested in board certification, which would include all procedures leading to board certification in the respective disciplines and developmental levels, and examine relevant publications for the NBPTS.

  3. Work with Reading Today staff to develop an article, subject to the regular review process, that highlights some of the activities by IRA/NBPTS teachers in the last five years.
