Does IRA provide Clock Hours or a Certificate of Attendance for attending the conference?

If you participate in any IRA-sponsored professional development activity, such as literacy study groups, conferences, or institutes, IRA will award you a transcript of completion that includes Clock Hours. This transcript may be used as part of a professional development sequence approved by local school districts. Your district or State Department of Education can provide information about the specific Clock Hour requirements in your state.

I've never attended an IRA Annual Conference. What can I expect from IRA 2014?

The speakers and sessions change from year to year, but one thing you can always expect from IRA is high- quality professional learning that's personally fulfilling. Your registration affords you access to hundreds of educational sessions, including our popular Teaching Edge series; admission to all three General Sessions; and entrance to the Exhibit Hall. You'll have the opportunity to network with thousands of literacy professionals from around the globe, and have the chance to get your books signed by your favorite authors! When we say it will be "unforgettable," we absolutely mean it.

IRA welcomes members and nonmembers from every part of the world, including classroom teachers, reading specialists, literacy coaches, college/university faculty, school administrators, librarians, and preservice teachers.

What are the official conference hotels for IRA 2014?

I require special accommodations. How can I request them?

If you require special accommodations as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), please indicate this at the time of registration. Manual wheelchairs and scooters can be reserved in advance with Mobility Scooter through The UPS Store or by calling 504-670-8941. Please email Peggy DiMaio at pdimaio@reading.org or call 800‐336‐7323, ext. 231, as soon as possible with additional accommodations request. On-site requests cannot be guaranteed.


Can I bring my child(ren) with me to the conference?

IRA's policy prohibits the attendance of children under 18 years of age in sessions and the Exhibit Hall. A liability release form can be submitted for such minors for the Exhibit Hall only. No exceptions can be made for sessions. Please print out a copy of the Minor Liability Release Form, sign it, and mail to Peggy DiMaio at IRA, 800 Barksdale Road, Newark, DE 19711. You may also scan the signed copy and e-mail it to Peggy DiMaio at pdimaio@reading.org. Additional release forms may be obtained in the registration area on-site.
