STELLAR Tutoring in Preservice Teacher Preparation: Exploring Video Case Support for Learning to Teach

We describe the development and use of a web-based, video support system to support preservice teachers in elementary tutoring experiences. The site offers interactive capabilities for faculty and preservice teachers to discuss video cases and with immediate applications to tutoring experiences. We report on a study of the use of this system with case analysis of three preservice teachers. The findings from the study suggest a positive impact for the STELLAR site on the preservice teachers. The findings also suggest ways in which the design of the site as well as its use might be modified to enhance its effectiveness.
