Text Complexity
Abstract of
Chapter 1
Text Complexity Is the New Black
Douglas Fisher
Nancy Frey
Diane Lapp
In Chapter 1 readers are invited to consider the concept of text complexity as an issue that has been addressed many times in the history of reading education. Since the Common Core State Standards have encouraged that complex texts become a part of every student's curriculum, the authors provide a revisiting of the topic of text complexity with attention being paid to quantitative and qualitative features, the match between readers and texts, and the significant role that teachers play in making the match a success.
