This chapter illustrates the journey of Dan, a fifth-grade classroom teacher, and Leah, an English as a second language specialist, as they collaborate to plan instruction that will meet the language and literacy needs of their English learners. By examining this collaborative effort, the chapter demonstrates one way in which literacy instruction for English learners can be improved.
