The Notable Books for a Global Society Committee of IRA’s Children’s Literature and Reading Special Interest Group identifies literature that honors and celebrates diversity in culture, race, ethnicity, gender, language, religion, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and physical and intellectual ability. Each year, the committee spotlights 25 outstanding trade books for enhancing students’ understandings of people and cultures throughout the world.
